How to Choose the Right Essential Oil Blend for You

The easiest way to get more from an essential oil blend is to match it to the time of day. A bright citrus blend in the evening can keep you wired when you wanted to wind down. A deeply calming lavender blend first thing in the morning can set entirely the wrong tone for a day that needs energy. The right blend at the right moment works differently and you feel the difference.

Aurey has three blends: Elevate for the morning, Harmony for the middle of the day, and Restful Sleep for the evening. This is a guide to what each one smells like, when it makes most sense to use it, and why the specific oils in each were chosen for that moment.

What makes an essential oil blend work for a specific time of day

The scent of an essential oil is not arbitrary. Different plant families produce different aromatic compounds, and those compounds interact with the senses in different ways. Citrus oils, including lemongrass, orange and bergamot, are naturally uplifting and tend to sharpen attention. Lavender and chamomile are naturally calming, slowing the pace of a room. Eucalyptus and peppermint bring clarity and freshness, opening the air around them.

A blend that uses these properties deliberately, pairing the right oils for the right moment, gives you more than a pleasant scent. It gives you something the moment can actually use.

Elevate: for the morning

Elevate is made with organic lemongrass, peppermint, orange, mandarin and juniper. The scent is bright and clean, sharp in the way an early morning should be, with a soft woody warmth from the juniper underneath.

This is the blend for the beginning of the day, before everything else starts. Lemongrass and peppermint are naturally uplifting with a freshness that cuts through the heaviness of early morning. Orange and mandarin bring a lighter citrus warmth alongside them. Juniper keeps the blend grounded so it stays clean rather than sharp or harsh.

If floral or earthy scents feel like too much first thing in the morning, Elevate is the answer. The citrus and peppermint combination is bright without being aggressive, and it clears the air in a way that makes the start of the day feel like a different kind of start.

Five drops as you get ready in the morning. It works well in the shower too. A few drops on the floor and the steam does the rest.

Harmony: for the middle of the day

Harmony is orange and bergamot with geranium, lavender and rose absolute. It is a warm, richly floral scent with a brightness at the top that softens as it settles into the room.

This is the blend for the hours between tasks, when everything tends to pile up at once. Orange and bergamot are naturally uplifting, bright enough to shift a heavy mood without overstimulating. Geranium, lavender and rose absolute bring warmth and balance alongside them, grounding the blend so it settles you as much as it lifts you.

If florals usually feel too sweet or heavy, the bergamot here keeps the blend from tipping that way. It stays balanced, neither too sweet nor too sharp. That balance is what makes it work in the middle of a busy day, when you need to come back to yourself rather than push harder in either direction.

Five drops when you sit down at your desk, or when you break for lunch and want the afternoon to feel different from the morning.

Restful Sleep: for the evening

Restful Sleep is organic lavender and chamomile with eucalyptus. For the end of the day, when you need to properly switch off.

Lavender and chamomile are naturally calming, with eucalyptus keeping the blend clean and fresh rather than heavy or overpowering. This is the combination that tells your body the day is done. The eucalyptus lifts the blend so it never becomes the thick, heavy lavender that puts some people off. It stays airy and easy to breathe in.

Diffuse it in the bedroom as you start to wind down, around thirty minutes before you want to sleep. A few drops on the shower floor during an evening wash works in the same way, and so does adding it to a warm bath, always diluted in a carrier oil first.

Five drops and let the evening slow down around you.

If you want to try all three

The three blends cover morning, midday and evening, and they are different enough that there is no overlap. Most people end up keeping all three and reaching for whichever one the moment calls for rather than picking a favourite.

If you want to try them before committing to one, the Aurey collection has all three together. It is also how the blends were intended to be used, as a set that moves through the day with you rather than a single scent that has to do everything at once.
